Installing AIRCHARGE J2ME™ application on your iDEN phone

Network Aware Applications: AIRCHARGE J2ME™ is a "Network Aware" application.
Over the Air (OTA) download allows you to directly load the AIRCHARGE software from the Download Apps program that is pre-loaded on i50sx, i55/58sr, i85/88s, i90c, i95/99cl, i710, i730, i733, i736, and i830 phones.

Important!! Your phone must have at least operating system R32.01.00 in order for software to work. Upgrading to this software revision is free but will erase all Java programs already loaded on your phone.
Network aware applications require subscription to the Nextel Total Connect or Southern LINC WDA data plan.
For Java™ technology-enabled phones, Nextel Data Services* or Southern LINC data services are activated if iP Active appears in a small box at the top of the default phone screen for models i50sx, i55/58sr, i85/88s, i90c, i95/99c. On i710, i730, i733, i736, and i830 phones a small picture of the earth near the top right corner of the screen will give you a indication of possible data service.
*Data Service type must be a Total Connect with Nextel or WDA plan with Southern LINC for AIRCHARGE to function.

After downloading AIRCHARGE application:
Before running AIRCHARGE Java application you have downloaded to your phone, you must install it.
1 From your phone's Ready screen, select menu Menu Button
    Scroll Scroll Button to the Java Apps option, and press the Select Select or Go Button button.
2 Press Scroll Button to scroll to AIRCHARGE.
3 Press Select or Go Button under INSTALL.
4 When your phone has finished installing the application, press Select or Go Button under DONE.
5 Now push the Menu Button button and scroll to Java Apps, press Select or Go Button under Select.
6 Next scroll to AIRCHARGE, press Select or Go Button under Run.
7 The AIRCHARGE program should now open and you should scroll to Preferences.
8 The Current Settings screen will show merchant information and will be empty at this time.
    Press Select or Go Button under Refresh. "Please Wait..." will appear as you phone goes out to our server to
    get your merchant information. Be patient, this may take a minute.
Important Note: If you get the error message
"Server unavailable, please try again later"
this means data services required for AIRCHARGE are not activated.
9 The current settings screen should now show your merchant information.
    Press Select or Go Button under Back. You can now process credit card transactions.

You may need to remove some programs from your phone in order to load the AIRCHARGE software...

To check memory usage and possibly deinstall programs...

Check your Phone's Data and Program Memory

In order to download, store and run the application of your choice, you must have enough Data and Program memory in your phone.
Programs that are normally removed if found on your phone are: Sega, Reversi, Minesweeper, and then your choice of TIPS or Calculator. These programs are normally pre-loaded on your phone and must be removed to allow AIRCHARGE to be installed.

Data memory refers to the memory needed to download an application to your phone. Program memory refers to the memory needed to install and run an application on your phone.

To check how much memory your phone has available:

  1. From the idle screen, press Menu.
  2. Use the navigation button to scroll to "Java Apps", press Select.
  3. Scroll to "Java System", press "Select".
  4. Press Select, then press Next to view the "Data Space" and "Prog. Space" available.
 

Caution:
Java applications are stored in your phone using the same memory space used to store Voice Notes. Using a large amount of data memory to store Voice Notes reduces the data memory available for downloading of Java applications. When this occurs, deleting Voice Notes from your phone's data memory space will free memory space for Java applications.

In addition, you may free more Data Memory space by deinstalling an application that you do not wish to use. Deinstalled applications that were obtained from the Nextel website may be redownloaded at a later time at no cost.

To Deinstall an Application:

  1. From the "Java Apps" screen, press the navigation button to scroll to the application you would like to delete.
  2. Press "Menu".
  3. Press the navigation button to scroll to "Deinstall", then press Select.
  4. A confirmation screen displays. Press Yes.
  5. Upon deinstallation completion, press Done.

Updated! Download Apps Instructions to load AIRCHARGE software on your phone.

With the "Idle" screen showing on your phone. "Shows time and date on screen".
Press the Menu button
Scroll to Java Apps and press SELECT.
Scroll to Download Apps and press RUN. Screen will show Initializing and then Authenticating. Follow the instructions on your phone if this the first time you have used the Download Apps program.
After entering the Download Apps area the screen will show:

You should scroll down to Free/Demo and press SELECT (On i730 you use the "OK" button in place of SELECT).
Next SELECT Industry Solutions or Business and Productivity
You are now shown the Industry Solutions or Business & Productivity Free/Demo Apps page.
If you have a phone that the AIRCHARGE program has been certified to run on it will show, approximately, on the top of the screen. With the AIRCHARGE program highlighted press SELECT.

You will now be on the App Details screen.
This gives general information about our program.
Press the button below GET IT to load the software.
After you have completed downloading the software follow these instructions.
